After ogling their hand picked craft heavy tap list, drooling over the menu and pestering their friendly bar staff OC PopQuiz! just had to make it official. We are very happy to return Ms Erica Hagaman to Sunset Beach after a too long absence. You will find her each Tuesday at 7:30 guiding Sunsetites (Sunseteans?, Sunseteagons?) through a fact laced mine field of Team Trivia. All of this goes down at Schooner at Sunset. If you haven’t checked out the newest edition of the Schooner family, well you are missing out.

Since the very beginning OC PopQuiz! has had sights set on Long Beach. After sifting through a menagerie of restaurants, dives, gastropubs and hole-in-the-walls we finally found a place to land in the 562.

We are happy to bring our brand of Team Trivia to The Red Leprechaun starting Tuesday, May 7th at 7:30pm & every First and Third Tuesday to follow.

Fast approaching One Year of quenching hearty appetites and thirsts, this quaint ‘Irish-American Pub’ is sure to please the Long Beach Trivia faithful. Thoughtfully executed comfort food and a heavy craft beer influence will inspire players to return every other week satisfying their cravings as they battle for supremacy.

CSULB alum Ms. Erica Hagaman will guide participants through a six round gauntlet before crowning the victors and bestowing handsome rewards. (As if knowing you were superior to the rest of the room wasn’t enough!) So come on out, play with us on a school night and let’s see who’s got the brains in Long Beach.

OC PopQuiz! regretfully must inform our Seinfeld fans and Trivia faithful that

we must postpone our April 30th

celebration of all things Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine.

Many, many unavoidable circumstances forced us to make this decision. We do not wish to pile up excuses, but we do wish to sincerely apologize for any plans that have to be refitted or canceled. Please do not think all that studying has been done in vain. We are not cancelling this must-have event, but merely POSTPONING it. After feeling the swell of excitement regarding this modern classic, we will of course deliver the best possible evening in a fashion that our players have come to expect.

Once a venue is secured we will announce our location, date and prizes!

Again we are very sorry to tease you with the promise of showing off your knowledge of one of the best Television shows of all time. All we ask is that you wait just a few weeks more while we amass a game of epic proportions in the most hospitable of locations with rewards fit for our favorite fans.

The Non-Facebook Status Update

It’s been a while, so we thought we’d let everyone know what’s happening in the OC PopQuiz! world. Rather than inundate everyone with Facebook post after Facebook post, we’ll go ahead and update everyone here.

NEW LOCATION: We’re proud to announce the addition of another location to the OC PopQuiz! lineup–Slater’s 50/50 in Lake Forest. Trivia at this Slater’s varies from the norm, as we are running our game on Tuesday nights at 8:30 p.m. This will allow some of you that may have a trivia and/or bacon addiction to get their fix on multiple nights. In fact, sometime in the near future, we might even do some fun things between each of the Slater’s location. We’ve been in preliminary discussions to maybe have a multi-night tournament with prizes for each store. Who knows?!?! Stay tuned for updates in that department.

THEMED GAME NIGHTS: With the addition of Zimzala to our regular trivia docket, we’ve discovered the perfect place to host our Monthly Themed Games on the last Tuesday of each month. January and February saw about 80 people each night participate in Harry Potter trivia. March’s game was a little less crowded, with about 50 people vying for the title of Smartest Pulp Fiction experts. We’ve had two attempts at allowing everyone to vote for each month’s themed game, but both weren’t quite what we were looking for. However, we are honoring last month’s voting and hosting a night of SEINFELD TRIVIA on Tuesday, April 30th. UPCOMING NEWS: We’re going to be welcoming another new location to our billing very soon. The Red Leprechaun in Long Beach, CA will be taking on some OC PopQuiz! Perhaps we’ll have to convert our name to OC/LA PopQuiz (yeah right)!

Big Week for Trivia!

This coming Monday the 28th we were asked to help celebrate the Grand Opening of the newest Tilted Kilt location in Orange! We will be hosting a game fit for the setting from 9pm to 11 pm. The highlands will influence the game taking place just a mile from both Angel Stadium and the Honda Center (some sports questions perhaps?). We will be rolling out some of our finest questions to help kick off this great establishment in style!

If you hadn’t heard (sorry for not shouting loud enough) the first of two Harry Potter Themed Trivia Nights goes down on Tuesday the 29th at Huntington Beach’s Zimzala – at the Shorebreak Hotel. These games exclusively cover JK Rowling’s books and our first game will be limited to books One through Four. We were recently told by Zimzala’s management that they will bestow the best costumed player/team with a handsome reward. Reservations are not necessary but appreciated so we can help the staff prepare for your needs. This is a cash game and each player will contribute $2 to the prize pool. We expect a first place payout of close to $100. There will be other giveaways as well, the occasional beer, appetizer or pitcher may be placed on your table for consumption.

We will still be running at all of standard locations: Longboard on Monday, Our cash game at Brix on Tuesday and both Slater’s 50/50 locations on Wednesday.

We wanted to throw out a big Thank You to everyone for making 2012 so much fun! We added a couple locations, had a great Princess Bride Night & Christmas Movie Night, saw a few engagements (Congrats again Richard & Lindsay and Patrick & Caylee!!), brought on 2 great Hostesses, and dropped some knowledge on yas!

We’re looking forward to a smashing 2013. We have a great location to host our Monthly Themed Games at Zimzala inside the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach. The Harry Potter Nights (January 29 & February 26) will see some of the hardest fought brain battles in the realm of all things Wizardry.

We have a few new locations in the works as we’re always looking to grow our legion of drinking learn-ed folks. And we also have a couple surprises up our sleeves.

We’ll see you out there no matter the location!

Thanks again for making us a part of your lives. We love every minute of being able to bring good people together and having a great excuse to have a few beers on a school night!

This restaurant, with its chic bar and lounge, has been getting its fair share of attention as of late. So if you don’t trust the media, even the pot and hooker advertising lefties at OC Weekly, come and see for yourself. Pit your skills against locals and tourists alike. You may find yourself winning a round and munching on gratis appetizers, pouring cold beer out of a pitcher, or even earning a round of signature shots–all rewards that can be found after individual rounds of trivia at Zimzala.
